The hit reality TV show
Dancing With The Stars is hitting the road, bringing a select team of professional dancers and celebrities from the first three seasons to 38 cities through the US.Participating celebrities and dancers include Joey Lawrence and Edyta Sliwinska (Season 3); Harry Hamlin and Ashly DelGrosso (Season 3); Lisa Rinna and Louis van Amstel (Season 2); Willa Ford and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Season 2); Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke (Season 2); Joey McIntyre (Season 1) and Kym Johnson (Season 3).
The 2006 Fred Astaire National DanceSport Championships (NDC) was held in October at the Walt Disney Hilton. Congratulations to Carmine and Norie Cecchini who represented the Palm Harbor Studio with their Instructors Carol & Fletcher Elliott. Both Carmine & Norie did extremly well with a combined total of 33 First placements, 2 Second placements, 5 Third placements and 6 call backs to the finals. In addition Carmine and Norie received a a 96.2 % (1st place) on their Showcase production "Stuff like that there" and Norie came away with 1st Place in the Silver Closed Rhythm Championship Division (rumba, cha cha, swing). What a honor, we are all very proud of both Norie and Carmine (aka Bronx Baby and Big Daddy)
Congratulations as well to Ms. Tiffany Sims & Mr. Glen Gandelman who made the finals in the Pro/Mix division and placed 6th in the closed smooth division. This was Tiffany's and Glen's first time competing together and we are sure many more high placements are still to come.
As many of you know, the partnership between Fred Astaire Dance Studios and Variety "The Children's Charity" has continued to grow. At this years national competition in Florida, Variety of Orlando was able to share its mobility story about helping children at a local elementary school thanks to donations made by Fred Astaire owners, teachers and students at last years Mix and Match competition.
Variety of Orlando used the money donated by Fred Astaire Dance Studios to purchase the automatic door opener for Winter Springs Elementary. Abigail, Emily, their grandparents, sisters and mother came to this years competition and presented Jack Rothweiler with a thank you card from all the children at the school.
After the presentation, an anonymous dancer generously donated $10,000 to Variety of Orlando to help more children in need!
Variety of Orlando and Variety of the U.S. are incredibly grateful to Jack Rothweiler, Pahjmon Lipsey and all the students and dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studios who helped make this wish a reality for Emily and Abigail.
